Understanding The Worker Protection Act
The Worker Protection Act 2023 enforces a zero-tolerance stance on workplace harassment by introducing specific obligations for employers to:
Take steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
Act proactively, rather than reactively, in addressing risks and ensuring a safer work culture.
These obligations include creating channels for employees to share concerns–which is where Trickle can support.
Using Flares to promote safety & compliance
Flares, Trickle's confidential and secure 1:1 whistleblowing tool, is one of Trickle’s most impactful tools for supporting wellbeing and creating a culture of trust.
Here’s how Flares can help your organisation meet the new requirements.
Encourage early reporting
Flares allow individuals to confidentially raise matters on a 1:1 basis with optional anonymity. Employees can flag any potential risks or concerning behaviours to designated Flare responders with the option to remain anonymous.
A space for private conversations
Flares are not shown on the main feed. They will be visible to the person raising the Flare and the Flare responder who has been selected to receive the Flare.
Enable preventative action
By regularly reviewing Flares, leadership teams can identify recurring themes or risks and take proactive steps to address them, fostering a safer work environment.
Championing a safety workplace
As Champions, you have a pivotal role in ensuring your teams feel confident in using Trickle to raise concerns. Here are some ways to champion the use of Flares:
Raise Awareness: Share this newsletter with your team to highlight the importance of the Worker Protection Act and the role of Flares.
Start a conversation: Encourage your colleagues to discuss how Flares can help create a safer, more inclusive workplace. You could also post a Shout About to ensure your team knows about our Flares feature.
Reach out: If you don't have access to Flares, or have any questions, reach out to your Customer Wellbeing Manager.
