MoodSense is a tool used by Champions to quickly check in and see how people are doing or feeling at that moment. It is super-easy to create or schedule a MoodSense - you can use this step-by-step guide to help you!

You can read more about how to use MoodSense as a powerful insights tool here.

How to create a MoodSense on desktop

New MoodSense

At the top of your screen, click the New Post button and select MoodSense. You can click on the "Scheduled MoodSenses" link to review any upcoming MoodSenses before creating a new one.

Select an audience

You are then asked to choose who your MoodSense is most relevant to - your department, your location or the whole organisation. You can also choose to send to multiple departments or locations by clicking on the arrow beside "more departments" or "more locations", then using the dropdown arrow to choose the departments or locations from the menu.

Type your question

Enter the question or statement you would like to ask in the text box. It's important that your MoodSense can be answered easily (Users choose a face ranging from sad to happy) - frame your questions so they can be answered in this way. You can visit our MoodSense library here for inspiration!

Decide on the duration

You can decide how long the MoodSense is open by selecting a number of days.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: MoodSenses of a shorter duration, usually around 5 days, tend to get the most responses!

Choose a publish time

You can either "Post Now" or "Schedule" your MoodSense to go out at a later specified date or time.

You can also choose to publish it as a recurring MoodSense - weekly, fortnightly, monthly or yearly.

Adding Customised Guidance (optional)

You also have the option to add custom guidance to both positive and negative responses. This feature enables you to provide instant signposting to internal or external support resources depending on a users vote. When a user submits their vote, they will receive a pop-up message with the guidance you have created.

To provide customised guidance, go to "Click here to customise the guidance given for positive and negative responses" and you will be taken to a tab where you can add a message/link to share in the pop-up for both positive and negative MoodSense responses. The title and message you see already is what will be shown in the pop-up if you do not add your own here.

You can watch the video below on how to add your own customised guidance.

MoodSense Results

The overall results will be published on the activity feed for everyone to see once the MoodSense closes at the end of the voting period.

How to schedule a MoodSense on Mobile App

New MoodSense

You have two options here, you can either select 'What's on your mind?' at the top of the screen or select the + symbol inside the blue circle on the bottom right of your screen. Clicking on either of these buttons will bring you to an area, 'New Post' where you can then select MoodSense.

Select an audience

You can direct your question to a specific department, location, or send it to everyone within the organisation via the Trickle platform.

Choose a publish time

Next you can pick a time to post your MoodSense:

  • Send immediately

  • Send at a suggested time (Trickle recommends for best engagement)

  • Send at a custom time that is most appropriate for your organisation

Decide on the duration

You can decide how long the MoodSense is open by selecting a number of days.

Results

The overall results will be published on the activity feed for everyone to see once the duration of the MoodSense has passed.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: Once you have the results of a MoodSense it is a great idea to post a Trickle to follow up on the results or a Shout About to show people that they have been heard. Here is a follow-up Trickle example - "30% of people aren't feeling good about working from home. Is there anything we can do to make things better or offer you more support?"
